State of the Seahawks Address

Well, here I am. I told myself that I just wanted to enjoy the season, that I wouldn't blog because once I start I can't stop...well that lasted all but 4 weeks. I almost came back last week, but after yesterdays come from behind win on the road I could no longer resist my urge to purge!! I mean what is a girl to do when she has read every article there is to read, heard every interview there is to hear, retweeted every tweet, liked every status, shared every photo, and she still can't get her fill of Seahawk's football?  She is to blog, and so that is what I'm doing. Forgive me if I get a little long winded on this first post, as its really a recap of the first quarter of the season for our UNDEFEATED 4-0  SEATTLE SEAHAWKS!!!

I'll start with "Takeaways" from each game ( pun intended)

Week 1: Seahawks 12 @ Carolina 7
Many people thought Seattle could lose this game. Season opener, on the road, 10AM start, East coast. All the makings of a Seattle road loss, where in fairness we have struggled in the past in my opinion. We tend to drop games on the road to lesser opponents.....IN THE PAST. The defense was great in this game, holding the Panthers to just one TD, and when it came down to it Russell Wilson made the plays he had to make to win the game. Russell seemed to struggle but ended up throwing for 320 yards. In the first game of the year the offense was impaired by costly penalties that stalled drives and killed momentum. Still the team never conceded, the defense kept us in it, and we eventually were able to put it together enough to go ahead on a great deep ball to Kerse. The score of the game is a little deceiving because Seattle had a chance to score again at the end of the game in the redzone with 4 downs but elected to kneel the clock out. This was a big win in week 1. It wasn't pretty, but we defied circumstances that often became excuses for losses and we won on the road and 10AM in the Eastern Time Zone.

Week 2: San Francisco 3 @ Seattle 29
This was it, this was the game, the one we all had circled on our calendars from the moment the schedule came out. Season home opener vs. the rival San Francisco 49ers on Sunday Night Football. The 12th man was going for the world record for loudest fan noise ( which they shattered BTW at 136.6 decibels) and let me just say that I hate the 4-whiners. I hate them so much I have a hard time capitalizing their names, because I think its too much respect the consider them a proper noun. It's not just that they think they are better than us, its not just that their head coach is a total douche and whines to the refs before, after, and during every game. Its that their fanbase is living off of the rings they got before alot of them are born, and
they think that have the memory of winning rings somehow makes their 2013 team entitled. They seem to forget who has run this division the for the last decade. They have been good the last 2 years, and good for them, because that shit is over, and this game only further proved it. Seattle took care of business. Our defense made Kaepernick, Gore, Boldin (the anointed..HA!), Davis and the bunch look below average, actually that's generous. They were pathetic. They were completely eviscerated. Our offense looked better, we put up 29 on one of the best defenses in the NFL, and we made a clear statement that Seattle was the team to beat not only in the NFC West but in the entire Conference and League.

** Okung suffered a toe injury and was put on IR designated to return and will be out for at least 8 weeks. OUCH!

Week 3: Jacksonville 17 @ Seattle 45
Going into this game Seattle was a 19.5 point favorite at home, going up against the worst offense in the league, this had the potential to get really ugly really fast, and it did. In the first half I remember asking my dad if a team has every been held an entire game without a first down? At that point midway thru the 2nd quarter Jacksonville was at a net -7 yards on offense. This game however was all about the offense. Russell Wilson hit Zach Miller twice on one great play call, and then again on a pirouette that showcased his athleticism. With 34 seconds left in the first half we went 60+ yards and scored a TD on a laser to throw in a tight window to Sindey Rice. Seattle was up 31-0 when we started substituting in our backups. The 17 points allowed seems high for a team averaging 5 ppg at the point but those points came off of a turnover in the Jags red zone and then on the backups. As far as I'm concern
ed our first team D pitched a shutout. This was a great opportunity to get our back up work, especially on the offensive line where Mcquiston, Bowie (R) and Bailey (R) split time filling in for LT Okung. In this game we got to see Chris Clemons and Brandon Browner for the first time this season. Clemons got good pressure and his knee seemed 100%, once he dusted some of the rust off. Biggest takeaway from this game was that the offense got rolling, and the backups got valuable playing time.

** Max Unger (Center) and Breno Giacomini (RT) where both injured in this game, and were day to day. DOUBLE OUCH!!

I'll break down the win over the Texans in my next post. I feel it deserves a little more that one paragraph :)

Stay tuned and GO 'HAWKS!
